Smart OTP is a high-trust product moment: users need to verify actions quickly, but every step must still feel safe, understandable, and compliant with banking security requirements.
My role focused on designing the UX/UI for the authentication journey, translating security constraints into clear screens, and collaborating with developers and security experts to keep the experience practical to implement.
What I Did
I mapped the authentication process around the user’s real intent: confirm an action, understand why verification is needed, and complete the step without unnecessary hesitation.
The design challenge was balancing speed with reassurance. A Smart OTP flow cannot feel casual, but it also cannot feel heavy or confusing when users are trying to complete a banking task.
I created clear screen hierarchy, direct microcopy, predictable interactions, and developer-ready UI states so the journey could satisfy both user needs and security requirements.
Design Decisions
For authentication, clarity is part of security. Users should always understand what is happening, what they need to do next, and whether the action has succeeded.
The interface prioritizes concise instructions, strong visual hierarchy, obvious status feedback, and a flow that minimizes cognitive load while still respecting banking compliance requirements.
I also worked closely with the development team and security experts to ensure the design could be implemented consistently and remain aligned with required banking security standards.
Outcome
- Created a faster and clearer authentication journey for high-security banking moments.
- Aligned UX/UI decisions with compliance requirements and security processes from Circular 50.
- Collaborated with developers and security stakeholders to keep the flow usable and technically feasible.
The result is a banking authentication experience designed to feel efficient, trustworthy, and realistic for production implementation.
